This startling figure should be a reminder that user testing isn’t the only thing you need to do to make sure your app is successful. Know your user. Study them, learn from them, find out if they even need your app.

The article goes on to discuss that China is especially prone to the add drop behavior. Here, I think the article doesn’t go far enough. Apps and websites fail on several points: they fail to provide good translations for their Chinese versions; they fail to understand the Chinese user needs and motivations for using the site; they fail to do their research.
